The Skokie Photographic Society was established in the 1970s to promote interest in photography from both a technical and artistic standpoint. We are a non-profit organization of photo enthusiasts working in the medums of color and black & white slides, prints, and digital photography. Most of our members work in film or digital format, with a few members experimenting with enhanced Photoshop techniques, collage, and stereo photography. A Board of Directors meets once a month to plan and oversee the activities of the club.

Meetings

The Club holds regular meetings on the third Thursday of every month at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Skokie Village Hall, located at 5127 Oakton Street, in Skokie, Illinois. Our meetings are open to the public and feature photographers as well as others who may be tied to the photographic industry: i.e., film, printer paper, projection equipment manufacturers, etc. Our own members occasionally present programs.

Membership

There are no qualifications for membership. Whether you are a beginner or expert, we believe you will find something in the Skokie Photographic Society. We do not provide darkrooms or studio space. However, we do occasionally purchase bulk items for members in order to take advantage of discounted prices; e.g., frames, matting material, etc. Present membership fees are $20.00 per individual or $30 per couple. Members receive a monthly newsletter, are encouraged to participate in several exhibits hosted by the club each year, and are invited to attend our annual luncheon.
